Conman arrested for cheating

The K.R. Police have arrested a conman on charges of cheating a person from city of Rs. 2.80 lakh on the promise of a job in the Railways.

The arrested has been identified as Preetham. Umesh, a resident of  K.R. Mohalla in his complaint with the Police said that Preetham after befriending him, promised a ticket examiner’s job in the Railways for his (Umesh’s) son, for which he was asked to pay Rs. 10 lakh. Believing Preetham, Umesh credited a total of Rs. 2.80lakh (Rs.90,000 on April 22 and 25 and Rs. 1 lakh on May 5) to the account of Pushpa as per his (Preetham) advice. But Preetham after receiving the money, began to evade him after few days. Feeling cheated, he had lodged the complaint, Umesh said.

Acting on the complaint, the Police traced the accused Preetham at Hassan yesterday and arrested him. During interrogation, it was discovered that Preetham had cheated many persons in different parts of the State by operating under different names. KR Police are investigating.
