Conman held for cheating women in the guise of getting them loans

Sargur: Sargur Police have arrested a conman on charges of cheating women in the guise of getting them loans and receiving money from them.

The arrested conman has been identified as Girish, a resident of Pillahalli village in Mysuru taluk.

According to the complaint lodged by the victims, the accused had claimed that he was an employee of a private finance firm and had cheated them.

The complaint stated that the accused on the pretext of getting them loan of Rs. 25,000 each, had asked them to deposit Rs. 1,500 each as initial deposit to the account of the finance firm and had asked them to come near a finance firm in Sargur. When a few women came near the firm, Girish told them that they had to deposit money in his account and the women deposited about Rs. 5000 in his account. He told the remaining women that he himself would deposit money on their behalf, which gave rise to suspicion among the women.

The women, later lodged a complaint at the Police Station and the cops, who swung into action immediately, arrested Girish near the bus stand.

He was produced him before a Court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

SI Basavaraju, who is investigating has asked the public to be careful against such persons besides asking them to inform the Police, if they come across such persons.
