Mysore/Mysuru: Avadootha Sri Vinay Guruji of Chikkamagalur’s Gowrigadde Ashram has called upon people to celebrate the birthday of Visionary and Social Reformer Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in a meaningful way by making efforts to conserve environment.
He was delivering a discourse on ‘Manava Dharma-Shreshta Dharma,’ at a function organised by Gowrigadde Ashram at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Convocation Hall on Hunsur Road here on Thursday.
Describing the Constitution given by Dr. Ambedkar as the ‘Gita’ of Kaliyuga, he said that certain laws in the Constitution are protecting the exploited sections of the society. Similarly, there is a need now to protect the environment which is being exploited by everybody, he said and appealed people to protect the environment by planting more trees and by adopting birds and animals.
“Dr. Ambedkar was concerned about the exploitation of people and thought about improving their living conditions, observed that they are deprived of education and absence of any laws to give them education. Without any media help, he united all sections of exploited people and created awareness and fought against the evils without any weapon. He used the weapon of knowledge to understand the various issues and gave the Constitution. He was a man of values. Like Brahma is accepted as the Creator, people who accept the Constitution should also accept Dr. Ambedkar as Brahma,” the Guruji opined.
“We should not confine great men to just photo frames. If we imbibe their preaching and ideologies, everything will be fine on its own. Our ancestors might have exploited some sections of the society and it is possible that we too must have exploited some. So we must all atone now for our past deeds,” he noted.
Prior to this, artistes performed light music and folk dance. Master Anand anchored the programme. Raniprabha, Prakash and others were present.
