May 24, 2017

Mysuru: Seeking regularisation of jobs of Pourakarmikas working on contract basis, the Civic Workers of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will stage a ‘Broom protest’ tomorrow in city.

Similar protests would be held at all District Centres in the State, said Mysuru District President of Karnataka State City Corporations, City Municipal Councils, Town Municipal Councils T. Srinivas.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, Pourakarmikara Mahasangha President N. Mara said that they would set a deadline of 15 days for the Government to act, failing which they would boycott the works from June 12.

He said that the Supreme Court on many occasions had said that Civic Workers should not be outsourced and they should be provided job security by taking the Civic Workers on regular basis.

The Civic Workers of MCC, holding brooms, will take out a march from the Town Hall premises to the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, where they will submit a memorandum.
