Contract, outsourced doctors & health workers continue stir

October 6, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: The indefinite stir launched by contract and outsourced doctors and other health workers seeking fulfilment of their various demands, which chiefly included pay parity with regular employees and job security, has continued in city with the protesters intensifying their pitch on Sunday.

Contract doctors and other medical staff, who launched the indefinite stir under the banner of Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department and Medical Education Department Contract and Outsourced Staff Association by striking work on Sept. 24, had staged a symbolic demonstration in front of the DHO’s office here on Oct. 2, seeking fulfilment of their demands.

As the Government is yet to respond to their demands, the stir has continued and entered the 11th day on Sunday.

Association Mysuru District President Dr. Arasu told Star of Mysore that there are 968 contract and outsourced staff in Mysuru district and all of them have struck work from Sept. 24.

Pointing out that repeated representations to the Government on their just demands have evoked no response so far, he said that only some staff are working at a few districts due to emergency situations.

The stir will continue as long the Government continues to ignore their plea, he asserted.

Association office-bearers Manjunath, Rajesh, Shashidhar, Harish, Diwakar and others took part in the protest.
