Convict dies in prison

Mysuru:  A 50-year-old man, who was serving a 14-year prison term in the city’s Central Jail after being convicted in a dowry harassment and murder case, reportedly died of heart attack at K.R. Hospital here late on Monday night.

Mallesh vomited twice following which he was treated at the prison’s health centre at about 9.15 pm on Monday. Mallesh complained of chest pain some time later following which he was rushed to K.R. Hospital, where he died a few minutes later, according to Prison officials.

Soon after Mallesh was declared dead, his relatives raising suspicions about his death, are said to have staged a demonstration in front of K.R. Hospital.

His body was handed over to his relatives after post-mortem, it is learnt.

Mallesh had completed eight years of his 14-year prison term.
