Corporator stages protest against DC Sharat’s transfer

September 29, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Hours after the Government transferred Mysuru DC B. Sharat barely a month after he was appointed to the post, Congress Corporator Lokesh Piya, along with his supporters, staged a demonstration in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s bust, opposite the City Law Courts Complex here yesterday.

Condemning the premature and abrupt transfer, Lokesh Piya said that Sharat, who was serving as Kalaburagi DC, was posted as Mysuru DC only on Aug. 28 and his abrupt transfer just a month after he took charge, is nothing but ridiculous.

Maintaining that Sharat was doing a good job as the DC by taking necessary measures for containing the spread of the virus in the district, which has earned the dubious distinction of being only the second after Bengaluru in the number of COVID-19 positive cases, the Corporator alleged that the transfer of Sharat, who hailed from a Backward Community, comes as a rude shock for the people of the district, who were expecting much from him.

He urged the Government to withdraw the transfer order and continue Sharat as the DC.

Congress workers Smaran, Sadiq, Shekar, Satish, Nazir and others took part.
