Mysuru: With Legislative Council Polls from South Teacher’s Constituency scheduled on June 8, candidates of Congress, BJP and JD(S) interacted with the press at a programme organised by Mysore District Journalists Association (MDJA) at its premises here this morning.
JD(S) candidate Marithibbegowda, Congress candidate M. Lakshmana and BJP candidate Niranjan Murthy assured to work for the welfare of the teachers and sought the co-operation of the teaching fraternity.
Marithibbegowda said that he has been an MLC for three terms and expressed familiarity with problems of teachers. He assured to strive for solving issues pertaining to teachers in unaided schools and pay anomalies.
Lakshmana said that he had interacted with almost all of the voters and assured to show some good results within six months.
Niranjan Murthy said that he himself is a guest lecturer for several years and averred that he can gauge the problems of teachers better.
When reporters referred to the position of Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University remaining vacant for a long period, the three candidates assured to resolve the issue if voted to power regarding the KSOU problems, they assured to safeguard the interests of the students.
MDJA President C.K. Mahendra, General Secretary K.J. Lokesh Babu and State Committee Member Subramanya were present.
