Countering‌ ‌bickering‌ ‌‌at‌ ‌‌work‌ ‌place‌ ‌

February 1, 2021

Ensure you don’t sit with your back to entry/ exit , try to add more lights (if you can) to your work desk in the form of desk lamps, you could place small plants with round leaves.

While at work each individual tries to bring out the best and their capabilities, however, is most often overshadowed due to a not-so-friendly colleague who could be unhappy of your success or it could be a boss who is not satisfied in spite of your sincere efforts at work. This often dampens the enthusiasm and one tends to mellow down and eventually lose interest in their career and pursuits.

Over a period of time, the burden increases causing stress in their personal life and has a strong implication at their homes as they carry their problems back home.

When you are sidelined or hurt when at work due to the attitude of your colleagues, the first reaction would be of swelling anger and you may be unable to digest the new changes, feeling of defeat and sadness.

The continued suppression would only lead to a situation wherein you would like to quit  as you are helpless. This may not be the solution as similar situations may resurface even when you change your job. Hence, the best thing would be to create a positive frame of mind, strong aura and a supportive environment at work and home.

If you are having a troublesome colleague, who is not only nosy but cannot stand if your work is being recognised by the organisation or someone who tries to terrorise you with his attitude, don’t be intimated, stand up and let him know that you will not take it kindly and don’t cower or shout but be level headed, firm and clear, most importantly drive home your message by speaking while looking into the eye.

Adapting some time-tested methods of Vastu and Feng Shui, one can create right harmony and ensure that such unpleasant situations do not occur. Explore possibility of re-arranging work desk and if you are in cubicle type seating, you do not have much choice, yet you could do few things.

Ensure you don’t sit with your back to entry/ exit , try to add more lights (if you can) to your work desk in the form of desk lamps, you could place small plants with round leaves. A bamboo plant in water is also considered good when placed towards the North of your desk space. A whiff of freshness in the form of small air fresheners especially lime or citronella-based flavour would dispel the negative Chi around your workspace.

Add colours in the form of pin ups or posters (it could be motivational posters too). You could even have small hand towels on your chair arm rest with Yang colours like red, yellow and orange. Colours like green and purple symbolise wealth and would be more appropriate for those in sales.

Remember, these suggestions would be supportive to you and bring out the best within you  if you can stand up for yourself when things don’t go the way it should.
