Nanjangud: A couple and an elderly woman were killed on the spot when a truck rammed into the motorbike they were riding near J.P. Hundi village on Sangama-Hullahalli Main Road near here yesterday.
The deceased are Chikkaswamy (45) and his wife Roopa (38), residents of Hanchipura village in the taluk and Roopa’s mother Channamallamma (65), a resident of Kanenooru village.
Chikkaswamy and Roopa, who had gone to attend a marriage ceremony at Sangama Kshetra, later went to Kanenooru village to visit Channamallamma, who was not keeping well. They picked up Channamallamma on the bike and were proceeding near J.P. Hundi village on Sangama-Hullahalli Main Road when a speeding Tamil Nadu registration truck rammed into the bike and ran over them killing all the three on the spot, Police said.
Dy.SP Raghu, Sub-Inspector Chethan Kumar, Crime Division’s Rasool Pagavale, Sub-Inspectors Shivanna and Doddaiah visited the spot. The bodies were shifted to Nanjangud General Hospital for post-mortem.
Hullahalli Police, who have registered a case, have taken the truck driver into custody.
