Couple cheats chit fund investors

Threaten to commit suicide when investors ask for refund

Mysore/Mysuru: A couple, who were conducting chit fund business illegally, have not only cheated the investors of lakhs of rupees but also threatened of committing suicide when the investors asked them to return their money.

The accused couple is Sanna Shivu and his wife M.S. Geetha, residents of Judicial Layout at Kergalli in city.

C.R. Gayathri, a resident of Kuvempunagar E&F Block, her daughter Puneetha and son Yashwanth had paid a total of Rs. 23.45 lakh to the couple for the chit. Apart from them, Gayathri’s friend N.B. Shobha of Bychanahalli in Kushalnagar taluk had paid a total of Rs. 6.5 lakh and another friend B.C. Shobha of Kuvempunagar 1st Stage had also paid Rs. 4 lakh for the chit and the couple is accused of cheating them. Kuvempunagar Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
