Couple in anniversary mood among four killed in road accident

Mandya: A couple celebrating wedding anniversary are among four persons, who were killed in a road accident near Honnenahalli in Kunigal taluk of Tumakuru district yesterday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Kumara Narasimhaswamy (65), his wife Gayathri (62), Narasimhaswamy’s sister also named Gayathri (55), residents of Swarnasandra in Mandya and car driver Raghu, a resident of Mysuru.

Following the wedding anniversary, the couple along with Gayathri and Raghu, had gone to Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple at Devarayanadurga in Tumakuru district, where they had the darshan  of the deity.

They were returning to Mandya, when a fertiliser-laden truck rammed into their car, near Honnenahalli in Kunigal taluk, killing them instantly.

Kunigal Police, who reached the spot, shifted the bodies to Kunigal Government Hospital for post-mortem. The truck driver has been taken into custody.

A case has been registered and investigation is on.
