Mysore/Mysuru: The Office of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19, has issued 14 guidelines on sanitising vehicles which are ferrying the sick to hospitals.

As COVID-19 (Coronavirus) would be alive for 72 hours on metals, glass, plastic materials etc., vehicles should be washed with detergent specified by the Health Department and ambulances and other vehicles entering and exiting Containment Zones ferrying migrants and labourers should be cleaned in the same way besides spraying disinfectant daily.

Wearing of gloves while cleaning the vehicles is mandatory and the person involved in the cleaning process should compulsorily take a hot water bath. The clothes worn by the cleaning staff should be soaked in soap water for at least 30 minutes before washing and the owners of vehicles in Containment Zones should compulsorily wash their vehicles with soap water, according to the guidelines.
