Mysuru: Urging for repair of potholes-filled roads, Underground Drainages (UGDs) and manholes across the city, members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest in front of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Office in city yesterday.
Following recent rains, potholes have developed on various roads, drains and UGDs are blocked and manholes are overflowing across the city causing a lot of inconvenience to motorists, residents and public, the protestors said and alleged that UGD works undertaken on Thyagaraja Road, Ramanuja Road, Chamaraja Double Road, main roads in Kuvempunagar, Janata Nagar, Saraswathipuram Under Bridge, Vinayakanagar Main Roads, Ashoka Road, Agrahara, Udayagiri, N.R. Mohalla and other areas are still incomplete.
The protestors said that rain water remains stagnant on many potholes-filled roads making it difficult for motorists to navigate on such roads and added that there are instances of motorists especially two-wheeler riders falling on such roads and injuring themselves.
CPI (M) District Secretary Jagadish Surya, City Secretary N. Subramanya, leaders K. Basavaraju, J. Jayaram, Krishnamurthy, Rajendra, Varuna Nagaraj and others were present.
