Mysore/Mysuru: Ganesha Chaturthi is one of the most prominent festivals of India but in recent years, it is observed that Ganesha the Vignahartha (the destroyer of obstacles) is turning out to be Vigna-Kartha.
This is happening due to the ignorance of people celebrating the festival using Ganesha idols made of inorganic materials. Many organisations are trying to create awareness among public to use eco-friendly materials while making idols.
To encourage people to celebrate the festival in an eco-friendly way, Nexus Centre City Mall in Mysuru has come up with a initiative called “Crafting Lord Ganesha With Love & Devotion.” This initiative is to encourage all Ganesha devotees to come up with the most creative and eco-friendly idols and win free shopping vouchers worth Rs. 30,000. The contest which began on Sept.13 will conclude on Sept. 23. Winners will be announced on Sept. 24. Three best idols will be rewarded. Participants may display their idols in the Mall during this period. Interested may send images of idols to WhatsApp: 76248-04666.
