Crop insurance schemes revised

Mysuru:  Department of Horticulture has announced the redesigned schedule of Restricted Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) and Karnataka Raitha Suraksha Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (KRS-PMFBY) for the year 2019-20.

For mango crop grown in 198 villages of Mysuru, HD Kote, Hunsur, K.R. Nagar, Nanjangud, Periyapatna and T. Narasipur taluks, under RWBCIS, the insurance amount per hectare is Rs. 80,000 and premium instalment of Rs. 4,000 (5%) should be paid before Nov.15.

For Tomato crop grown in Yelwal, Jayapura and Varuna hoblis under KRS-PMFBY, the insurance amount per hectare is Rs. 1,18,000 and premium instalment of Rs. 5,900 (5%) should be paid before Nov.31. For Mysuru District, the insurance company designated for RWBCIS is Oriental General Insurance Company and Bharathi Axa General Insurance Company Ltd. for KRS-PMFBY.

The insurance premium instalment amount for loanee and non-loanee farmers will be the same. Insurance scheme will be mandatory for farmers who have obtained agriculture loans. The nearest bank can be approached to remit the insurance premium. The application should be supported with bank pass book, details of crop and land records.
