Mysore/Mysuru: Cardiological Society of India (CSI), Mysuru Chapter, as part of its 25th anniversary and on the occasion of ‘World Heart Day’ conducted CPR and Basic Life Support workshop for 250 Police personnel at the Superintendent of Police (SP) Office auditorium in city recently.
SP Seema Latkar inaugurated the workshop. Additional SP Dr. B.N. Nandini was the chief guest.
CSI President Dr. J. Veenu and Secretary Dr. S. Hema said that basic knowledge for all frontline workers and public is required to give a chance of life for patients who can have sudden cardiac death. “India was witnessing a huge burden of heart diseases and sudden cardiac deaths. Hence, CSI is conducting workshops every month to create awareness and enhance skills at life support,” they said.
Lectures were delivered by Dr. V. Keshavamurthy, Dr. S. Hema and Dr. Vaidyanathan, Chief Intensivist, Cauvery Multispeciality Hospital. Practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions with mannequins and AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) were given to the Police personnel.
