The Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Branch of Amrita School of Arts & Sciences, Mysuru, has been adjudged as the best active student branch in India for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This is a significant achievement, considering the fact that there are more than 600 colleges and Universities in India, with CSI student chapters in reputed institutions like IIIT, NITs, VIT-Vellore, Anna University-Chennai, Amity, Manipal, Christ Universities etc.

On 30th March, the award was presented by Prof. Prashant R. Nair, CSI National Student Coordinator to Prof. Vidya C. Pai, Principal, Amrita, Mysuru, in the presence of Dr. K. Sankaran, Registrar, Amrita University; Br. Sunil Dharmapal, Director; Br. Venugopal, Correspondent; Prof. S. Gokuldev, HoD-CS and S. Manishankar, student branch coordinator of Amrita School of Arts & Sciences, Mysuru.

The various activities of CSI Student branch of Amrita Mysuru included Amrita Vidyaanveshane – An expert lecture series in cutting-edge areas such as storage area networks, android apps, Rasperry Pi, cloud, web technologies, multimedia graphics etc by distinguished speakers from Infosys, Juniper Networks, Symantec, Payoda etc. Other notable activities included Antarprerana – an inter-collegiate symposium; Brain Bytes quiz for school students and national workshops on Network security vulnerability assessment and penetration testing and Amazon web services.

The Computer Society of India (CSI) is India’s first and largest professional body for IT professionals with over 1 lakh members all over India and abroad. Formed in 1965, CSI was instrumental in mentoring the Indian IT industry during its formative years and also launched the first training, certification and human resource development programmes in computing in India.
