Sir,
Hearty congratulations to C.P. Belliappa for enlightening us with a highly informative and also humorous article ‘How towns in Kodagu got their names’ in Star of Mysore dated Feb. 17.
His lighter vein style of writing enriches the pleasure of knowing about the rich cultural history of Kodagu through how its towns got their names.
The natural beauty of Kodagu will be of much less importance without the narration of the valour and rich culture of this Karnataka’s crown. It is the people of Kodagu, with their very distinct cultural ethos, that has given this land its glory and grandeur.
Of course, River Cauvery raises from here and acquires the name of Southern Ganga. However, the way people of Kodagu have adopted and culturally internalised River Cauvery is also an exceptional trait, unique to them.
Thanks to Star of Mysore for bringing out such a beautiful article on Kodagu and also to C.P. Belliappa.
