Curtains on MYBUILD-24 expo in city

December 17, 2024

Mysuru: The five-day MYBUILD-24, an exhibition of construction materials organised by Builders Association of India (BAI), Mysore Centre, at Maharaja’s College ground in the city, concluded on Monday.

Journalist Ravindra Joshi, who was the chief guest of valedictory session, said that the builders play a key role in the economic progress of the country. It is not an easy job to build a house for the roofless, as they have to deliver in accordance with the feelings of the people and architecture suiting the local conditions.

It takes not less than 30 to 40 years for a common man to own a house from the money he earns. They will be having hundreds of dreams and hence the builders and engineers should work better in realising their dreams, said Joshi.

It requires the efforts of lakhs of engineers in building a beautiful city. So also the sacrifices of crores of common people. It takes hundreds of years to build a beautiful city, that forms the backbone of country’s economy, added Joshi.

“A few years back, I had built a house in Bengaluru using new technology and had invited several dignitaries for the house warming ceremony. An actress, who visited the house, went around the interiors and asked me to call after rainy season. During rainy season, there was a seepage at places in the house. I was anxious and called the engineer who had built the house. He attributed the seepage to some minute errors in the application of technology and assured to repair after the rainy season. I called that actress and asked her whether she was aware of it. She recalled her own similar experience, that prompted her to change the design of the house itself,” said Joshi, explaining how the dreams of some will be shattered, for any minute error in executing the plan, while constructing a new house.
