D.Ed training for special teachers

Mysuru:  The Department for Empowerment of Differently-Abled and Senior Citizens is conducting training programmes for Special Teachers to teach Visual and Hearing Impaired students at Helen Keller Government Training Centre for Visually Impaired (VI) and Hearing Impaired (HI) in Tilak Nagar. This special D.Ed programme is equivalent to the regular D.Ed course.

The candidates who are interested in applying for the course must have a minimum of 50 per cent (SC, ST and Differently Abled, it is 45 per cent) in 10+2/PUC exams. This is a two-year course and there is no course fee for SC, ST and Differently Abled candidates.

The courses offered are D.Ed Special Education-Visual Impairment (for teaching visually impaired students) and D.Ed Special Education-Hearing Impairment (for teaching hearing impaired students).

Job opportunities

After the training, the Special Teachers can work in government and non-government schools run by grants from Department for Empowerment of  Differently-Abled and Senior Citizens, work in regular schools as teachers and as resource persons in District Hospitals and Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan.
