Dakshina Kannada district bagged the overall prize in the 4-day State-level Athletics Meet for U-14 and U-17 students which concluded at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad on Feb. 22.

In the U-14 category, Dakshina Kannada team won 7 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals with a points tally of 62 while in the U-17 category they bagged 8 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals with a points tally of 63.

In the U-14 Boys category, Annappa of Kolar bagged the Individual Championship by winning Gold Medal in High Jump, Discus Throw and Shot-Put (11 points).

In the U-14 Girls category, Chetana Bhaskar of Bengaluru North bagged the  Individual Championship winning Gold Medal in 100 & 200 mts Running Race and High Jump (15 points).

In the U-17 Boys category, Asmit A. Salian of DK district won the  Individual Championship by winning Gold Medal in 100 & 200 mts Running Race (10 points).

In the U-17 Girls category, Pranati of Bengaluru (Gold in 1500 mts and 3000 mts Running) and Shilpa Hosamani of Dharwad (Gold in 400 mts and 800 mts Running) shared the Individual Championship by scoring 10 points each.

DDPI Ramachandra Raje Urs, BEOs Uday Kumar and Krishna, District Physical Education Officer S. Siddaraju and others were present. ISKCON representative Vishnu Prabhu and Social Worker Shanta Ramakrishna, who provided lunch for the participants for three days, were felicitated jointly by the Dept. of Public Instruction and the District Administration on the occasion.
