Dancing without limits these children show how

Mysuru: Specially-abled children had a gala time at J.K. Grounds yesterday morning where Mahila and Makkala Dasara was organised. Students of 15 special schools across the city and more than 18 organisations took part in the event and exhibited their talent. 

Special kids performed group dance and solo dance to some popular patriotic songs. Almost all the songs were dedicated to the Nation and its marked achievements and programmes. 

Some of them dressed as soldiers marched across the stage and also performed acrobats with ropes. More than 40 children of Arunodaya Special Children’s School and their parents  association stole the show with scintillating performances.  

Gangadhar of Deaf and Dumb School, Tilaknagar performed solo Bharatanatyam much to the entertainment of the audience. Despite being 90 percent visually impaired and 50 percent hearing impaired, Gangadhar was perfect in his moves. He had obtained training from Vidu. Meghana. Hailing from T. Narasipur Taluk, Gangadhar is the son of Gavisiddaiah and Shivamma. He studies in sixth standard.  Inaugurating the programme, District Minister V. Somanna said that he was impressed to see special children performing on stage and added that the Government will do everything to see that the facilities announced for such children reach them on time. 

Later, children with hearing impairment performed a dance that was well appreciated by the people present. The children dressed as ISRO Launch Vehicle, Satellite, Goddess Saraswathi and others took part in the fancy dress event. 

The Sub-Committee has announced Rs. 5,000 honorarium for groups that took part in the cultural programmes.
