A prominent traffic junction in front of the Fortune JP Palace Hotel in Nazarbad has turned into a dangerous bottleneck, highlighting the lack of proper civic maintenance.

Police barricades have been placed here for a long time to divide the lanes. However, a large pothole has now opened up right in front of the traffic signal, making it difficult for motorists to pass through safely.

The deep pothole is forcing vehicles to make sudden manoeuvres, damaging the undercarriage of cars and posing a serious risk to two-wheeler riders.

To avoid the pothole, motorists are forced to squeeze past the barricades from the wrong side, entering the path of oncoming traffic and adding to the congestion at this busy junction.

What is particularly surprising is that the damaged stretch is right in front of the Government Guest House. Officials drive past this spot every day, yet the problem appears to have gone unnoticed.

It is high time the authorities took note of the situation. A deepening pothole at a busy junction could easily lead to a serious accident.

Municipal workers should immediately fill the pothole and repair the damaged stretch to ensure smooth and safe movement of vehicles.
