Dangerous electric pole at Ashokapuram

March 23, 2026

Sir,

A streetlight electric pole on 8th Cross Main Road in Ashokapuram, near Siddapaji Temple in Mysuru, is in a dangerous condition and at risk of collapse.

The pole is visibly tilted and unstable, posing a threat to pedestrians, residents, devotees visiting the temple and passing vehicles.

Residents fear that strong winds or rain could cause it to fall, leading to accidents, injuries or even loss of life. The electric wires attached to the pole also increase the risk of electrocution.

Despite the hazardous condition, no repair or replacement work has been carried out so far.

We urge the Mysuru City Corporation and the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) to inspect the spot immediately and repair or replace the damaged pole at the earliest to prevent any untoward incident.

– V.S. Manoj (Advocate), Mysuru, 3.3.2026
