Mysuru: Maintaining that Dasa Sahitya is unmatchable in terms of its literary richness, veteran Sanskrit Scholar Dr. H.V. Nagarajarao said that it is a matter of pride for Kannadigas that Dasa Sahitya has earned such a global reputation.
He was delivering the felicitation address at ‘Dr. T.N. Nagarathna-75’ felicitation programme jointly organised by Parampare and Dr. TNN Felicitation Committee at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Sunday, marking the 75th birthday of renowned scholar Dr. T.N. Nagarathna (TNN).
Noting that the credit for taking Haridasa Sahitya even to the lay man in a simple language and lucid manner should go to Dr. TNN, Dr. Nagarajarao said that TNN took great pains to make even the common man understand the scholarly works of iconic philosophers such as Vadiraja, Gopaladasa, Jagannathdasa, Vyasaraya and Kanakadasa.
Recalling the words of a Sanskrit poet who had said that the tongue gifted by the God will become useless if one does not speak about marvellous personalities, he said that Dr. Nagarathna is among such tall personalities whom everyone should speak about.
Observing that Dr. TNN is well-versed in research studies and editing of works, Dr. Nagarajrao said that Haridasa Sahitya edited by Dr. TNN is very much handy for those conducting research in Dasa Sahitya.
Dr. Maanakari Srinivasacharya, a faculty of Government Degree College at Tekkalakote in Ballari district, spoke about the felicitation volume — ‘Rathnaprabhe.’
Earlier, Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji released ‘Rathnaprabhe’ felicitation volume. Dr. TNN and her husband Gururaj were felicitated on the occasion.
