Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medallists Pranavi Urs, K.S. Shilpa felicitated
Mysuru: The State-level Dasara Sports Meet – CM Cup 2026 was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara at Chamundi Vihar Indoor Stadium yesterday.
The event is being organised by the Department of Youth Empowerment & Sports (DYES) and the Sports Authority of Karnataka.
More than 26 sporting disciplines are being held as part of this year’s meet, with athletes participating from districts across the State. Asian Games medallist Pranavi Urs and Commonwealth Games medallist K.S. Shilpa were felicitated on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Parameshwara said, the Dasara Sports Meet was more than a competition, providing a platform for athletes to showcase their talent and achievements. The Government was giving priority to job reservations for sportspersons, increased prize money and the development of sports infrastructure, he said.

Recalling the earlier prize structure for intl. medallists —Rs. 35 lakh for gold, Rs. 25 lakh for silver and Rs. 15 lakh for bronze — Dr. Parameshwara said, the amounts had been increased.
The revised prize money is Rs. 1 crore for gold medallists, Rs. 75 lakh for silver medallists and Rs. 50 lakh for bronze medallists.
At this point, CWG medallist Shilpa raised the issue of prize money and was assured that suitable incentives would be considered for her as well.
Dr. Parameshwara said that while not every participant at this year’s meet might win a medal, taking part in the competition was itself an achievement.
