Dasara VVIP invitation delegation: MCC Commissioner’s absence conspicuous

October 2, 2026

Sir,

Reading the report ‘CM formally invited for Dasara 2026’ (Star of Mysore dated Oct. 1), I was surprised to see that the name and photograph of M.K. Savitha, the present Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner, were missing.

Why was she not part of the delegation that included senior district officials?

Savitha holds an important post. She is a Selection Grade KAS Officer and has also served as Registrar of the University of Mysore. Surprisingly, such a senior officer was not part of the delegation that met the VVIPs to invite them for Dasara. Her absence wasquite noticeable.

Soon after taking charge as MCC Commissioner, Savitha took several initiatives to keep Mysuru clean. Her efforts and results were visible.

She has now taken up the task of cleaning the entire Outer Ring Road, which has become a dumping ground for garbage, animal waste and construction and demolition waste. This is being done so that the Ring Road does not become an eyesore for tourists visiting Mysuru during Dasara.

In the past, MCC Commissioners were part of delegations that went to invite VVIPs for Dasara.

Last year, the then MCC Commissioner, Shaikh Tanveer Asif, was also part of the delegation.

It is surprising that the delegation which invited the Chief Minister and other dignitaries this year did not include the MCC Commissioner. I think people have a right to know why she was not included.

Was it because the Commissioner was busy ensuring Mysuru was spic and span for Dasara, or was there another reason?
