Saw Ambedkar in my father: Women’s Commission head
Dr. Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, Chairperson of Karnataka State Commission for Women, shared tenets of her life, where she saw Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in her father.
“True to the belief of Dr. Ambedkar, who had propagated that, he would analyse development through the prism of women’s status in the society, had not my father educated me, I wouldn’t have become a doctor. Education is the key for women’s empowerment and she can shape her life, only through education. It is only when the women become financially independent, she can do her mite to the nation and this land. Or else she would remain enslaved to others in life,” said Dr. Nagalakshmi Chowdhary.
Dr. Nagalakshmi and Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, Vice-Chairperson of Karnataka State Guarantee Implementation Authority, entertained the audience by singing songs — Akashada Neeliyalli Chandra Thare Thottilali… and Gedde Geltivi Navu Gedde Geltivi Ondu Dina…
