Dasara Yuva Sambhrama draws to a close

Mysuru: The 10-day grand ‘Yuva Sambhrama,’ organised as part of Mysuru Dasara festivities, drew to a close at Kuvempu Open-Air Theatre in Manasagangothri campus here yesterday, with noted singer Vijay Prakash and team enthralling the crowd through a scintillating performance amid glaring lights.

Vijay Prakash, who shot into fame through his popular ‘Jai Ho…’ song of ‘Slum Dog Millionaire’ film, entered the stage by singing ‘Jai Ho…’ song, to the thunderous applause of the crowd that mostly comprised of students and youths.

Later, Vijay Prakash, fellow singer Nikhil Parthasarathi, along with popular female singer Anuradha Bhat and troupe, delighted the gathering by singing songs such as ‘Singara Siriye…’  from ‘Kantara’ and ‘Ninnindale, Ninnindale…’ from ‘Milana.’ The crowd too joined the celebrations by rejoicing and dancing to the tune of Kannada hits.

Overall, Vijay Prakash, accompanied by Anuradha Bhat, fascinated the crowd by rendering hits from popular films in Kannada and Hindi.

Talented singers present live music for first time

Vijay Prakash Culture Club (VPCC) had selected about 75 young singers from across the State as part of the State Government’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ youth programme and they were given a 3-day training. These young and talented singers presented live music for the first time playing percussion instruments.

Mysuru’s Kavan S. Aradhya, Bengaluru’s Vindhya and Dakshina Kannada’s Ananya sang songs such as ‘Shilegalu Sangeethava Haadive…’, ‘Mere Dol Na…’ and other popular hits.

Other young singers — Puttaraj Hiremath, Pratham, Manjunath, Sukrut, Hemashri, Nishant, Tanmay and others too enchanted  the crowd through their melodious rendition of poplar hits.

Vijay Prakash troupe was accompanied by Sandeep on saxophone and flute, Arun Kumar on drums, Santhosh on lead guitar, Akash and Harshavardhan on keyboard and Prajwal on Western guitar. Dance Master Ravi directed the dance performances of students from various colleges.

Students from 11 colleges performed different dance programmes with various  themes on the last day of the event which captivated the crowd.

The colleges which took part included  K. Puttaswamy Degree College, Gokulam in city, JSS Women’s College in Saraswathipuram, a college from Tumkur University, Onkarmal Somani College of Mysuru, NIE Degree College, Jnanadeepa Degree College, University of Mysore Evening College, a college from Kukke Subramanya in Dakshina Kannada district, a college from Kamadolli Gram Panchayat and the Directorate of Student Welfare, University of Mysore.
