Mysuru: The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, had organised a seminar on “Chromatography – Basics and Advances” with the objective to impart the knowledge on chromatographic sciences and their applications in the pharmaceutical research at its premises here recently.
Dr. P.V. Salimath and Dr. T. M. Pramodkumar, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, inaugurated the workshop.
Dr. B. R. Prashantha Kumar gave an overview of the seminar and explained the objectives of the programme.
Dr. Salimath, in his inaugural address, narrated his experiences with chromatographic experiments and called upon participants to utilise the opportunity to upgrade the knowledge on chromatography.
Dr. T. M. Pramod Kumar, in his Presidential remarks, congratulated the organisers for hosting the event on very relevant topic. Dr. Ajit Datar, Senior Scientist, Shimadzu Company, Mumbai, Dr. H. N. Shankara from Mysore University and M. A. Srinivasa from CFTRI, Mysuru were the resource persons.
Dr. H. N. Shankara spoke on different strategies for analytical method development using HPLC and provided insights on the career opportunities for skilled professionals in the chromatography domain.
Dr. Datar gave an overview of LC-MS instrumentation and its applications in pharmaceutical and allied sciences. M. A. Sreenivasa, a Scientist from CFTRI, Mysuru spoke on applications of chromatography with special reference to Food Analysis.
More than 300 student delegates and research scholars from various institutions in and around Mysuru participated in the seminar.
