Mysore/Mysuru: With the works on drawing  overhead cables for the 440 KV Hiriyur-Mysuru High Tension power grid  being expedited, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G.Sankar told farmer leaders that power line route cannot be altered at this stage.

Chairing a meeting with farmer leaders at his office here recently, Sankar said that the power line works started 19 months ago, but as the project failed to get momentum, State and Central government officials objected to the slow pace of works, following which measures have been taken to expedite the works, he added.

Highlighting the benefits of the power grid project, the DC appealed the farmers not to oppose the project as it a highly beneficial project for the farmers, industries and overall development of the city and rural areas.

Power Grid Project Chief General Manager P.C.Garg, addressing the farmers, said that the 440 KV Hiriyur-Mysuru  power grid project is part of the 1.5 lakh km power grid network of the country. Once the alignment for the power line is made, there is no question of changing it and added that the power line laying works is almost nearing completion.

Pointing out that the power line alignment is made only after the Survey of India comes up with a blue-print of the route map, Garg said that land acquisition and compensation process will be initiated only after the final notification of the project. 

Farmer leaders Badagalapura Nagendra and Hoskote Basavaraj, Power Grid project engineer Kishore, SP C. B. Rhyshyanth and other officials were present.
