DC briefs media, gives demo on EVMs

Mysuru: A Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) has been constituted through which all advertisements and news items pertaining to election should be authorised by the Committee 48 hours prior to the conclusion of election process by the political parties before presenting to the media.

Disclosing this to the media at a meeting held at his office, DC Abhiram G. Sankar said that the MCMC will have the Chief Electoral Officer as the Chairperson with an Observer of Election Commission of India and an expert opted by the Committee.

The DC also presented a demo of EVM and VVPAT. He said that SVEEP Committee has effectively created awareness on safety and authenticity of the machines in villages. He also explained the arrangements for mustering and de-mustering.

Department of Information and Public Relations Assistant Director Raju was present.
