DC distributes free laptops for Fair Price Shop owners

March 4, 2018

Mysuru: To bring in accuracy and transparency, the government recently introduced bio-metric authentication in Public Distribution System (PDS).

In that context on a symbolic note, laptops, printers and biometric sensors were distributed free to a few Fair Price Shop (FPS) owners of Hunsur by DC D. Randeep at a function held at his office here recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director, Department of Food and Civil Supplies, Dr. K. Rameshwarappa said that there were 1,031 FPS in the district and 917 of them have been working on bio-metric authentication with Point of Sale (POS) facility.

He added that the remaining ones would be converted to POS outlets by this month end.

He further said that provision has been created to use hand-written bills in case the bio-metric process fails.
