Mysuru: JSS Mahavidyapeetha has organised a ‘Handicrafts Exhibition’ on the occasion of Deepavali festival at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Plot No. 432, Ring road, Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysuru, from Oct.6 to 15 in association with Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi.
The Office of the Development Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, which promotes handicrafts by organising national and international exhibitions in the country as well as abroad, is organising these bazaars at JSS Urban Haat since 14 years.
More than 50 artisans from all over India including National and State awardees will display their attractive traditional and heritage artifacts in this expo which will be open for visitors from 10 am to 9 pm. There is no entry or parking fee.
The show will be inaugurated tomorrow by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep at 4 pm. Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Principal, Police Training School, will preside. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Dr. C. Ranganathaiah, Director (P&D), JSS Technical Education Division, B.R. Umakant, Joint Director (Projects), JSS Technical Education Division, H. Ramakrishnegowda, Joint Director, District Industries Centre, Mysuru, Janardhan, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism, and Sashidhar, Assistant Director, Handicraft Marketing and Service Extension Centre, Mysuru, will be the chief guests.
The award-winning craftsmen will present live demonstrations in art and craft-making. On display will be Pujabi Phulkari/Patiyala Suits, Bhagalpur Tassar Silk sarees/duppatta, Bastar Iron Craft from Madhya Pradesh, Horn Products, Grass Mats/ Curtains, Jaipur Kurthas & Raprons, Kanjivaram Silk Sarees, Ilakal Kasuthi and Molakalmur sarees of Karnataka, Jute bags, Tassur silk sarees, Kantha stitch sarees, Banaras sarees and Dress Materials, Boutique sarees and Dress, Bengali Cotton sarees, Kashmir Handlooms, Wood Carving & furniture from Saharanpur, Wood Inlay, Chicken Embroidery, Modern Arts Murals ceramic, Madhubani Painting, Rajasthan Miniature Paintings, Rajasthan Embroidery & footwear, Gujarat Dress, all kinds of Leather and Jute products, Vegetable print Dress Materials, Imitation Jewellery, Gem Stone Jewellery, Marble Painting, Karnataka Silk Sarees & Channapattana Toys, all kinds of Terracotta items and Handloom items.
The City bus facility has been arranged from KSRTC bus stand (Bus No: 117).
