DC reviews Dasara and Kannada Sahitya Sammelana expenditure

Mysuru: “After obtaining full details about the expenditure for 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana and Dasara festivities for 2016-17 from the funds received by the Government, a proposal will be sent to the Government to release the balance amount,” said Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep.

He was speaking at the meeting held at his office on Dec.18 to discuss the expenditure on organising this year’s Dasara and Sahitya Sammelana.

Briefing on the subject, DC Randeep said that he had seen two Dasara festivals after he assumed charge and added that Rs.14.25 crore had been spent from the Grant for 2016 festival, the accounts of which have been almost scrutinised now.

He further said that out of stipulated Rs.15 crore grant by the Government for 2017 Dasara, Rs.4.5 crore had been released and the balance Rs.10.5 crore need to be sanctioned. In that context, the DC asked H. Channappa, Assistant Director, Department of Kannada and Culture, to provide the complete expenditure details for 2017 Dasara. Referring to the 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, Randeep said that the expenditure details from the Government fund have been provided by only four Sub- Committees of the Sammelana and added that details from 10 other Sub-Committees were awaited. He further said that the Government had released Rs.5 crore out of Rs.10 crore of the Sammelana with another Rs.1 crore released from Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
