Former PM Deve Gowda visits Mosale Hosahalli, announces Rs. 1 lakh compensation

Hassan: The death toll in canter accident touched 10 with authorities at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) hospital declaring Chandan (26), a resident of Mosale Hosahalli as brain dead.

Sources said about 27 injured persons were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda visited the accident spot on NH 373  at Mosale Hosahalli between Holenarasipur and Hassan, where a canter rammed Ganesha idol procession on Friday  night. Later, he also visited the house of one of the victims and offered his condolences. Later, speaking to media persons, the former PM described the accident as “deeply distressing,” offering his condolences to bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Gowda also announced that JD(S) will offer Rs. 1 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Rs. 25,000 will be given to seriously injured and Rs. 20,000 for minor injuries.
