Decline of passenger traffic from Mysore Airport

January 13, 2024

Sir,

The decline of passenger traffic from Mysore Airport is definitely due to two main reasons. One, except to Chennai and Hyderabad, there are no flights connecting smaller cities and two, lack of information regarding flights and other details to general public.

If flights to smaller cities like Belagavi, Shivamogga, Hubballi, Mangaluru, Kochi, Goa, Pune, Tirupathi and Shirdi are introduced, naturally the air traffic would increase.

Many people who can afford to fly do not have any information regarding Mysore Airport and the flight details. If such info is widely publicised  in the media, it could surely help.

One fact to be noted is there are very good trains running from Mysuru to Chennai whereas for the smaller cities not many rail connectivity exist.
