Mysuru: The bodies of lovers, who had committed suicide, was found near the new bridge at Sagarakatte in KRS backwaters on Saturday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Ashoka (27), son of Rangaiah and an employee of a private factory and Kavyashree (22), daughter of Sannamogaiah and a B.Com student. Both were the residents of Bherya village in K.R. Nagar taluk. It is learnt that both had gone missing a couple of days ago.
Some members of the public, who saw the bodies floating near the bridge, immediately informed the jurisdictional Yelwal Police following which Yelwal Sub-Inspector Muddumahadeva and staff rushed to the spot, fished out the bodies, conducted mahazar and shifted the bodies to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.
The bodies were found hugging and the two may have tied a veil around their waists before jumping into the river, according to the Police, who fished out the bodies which were bloated and faces beyond recognition.
The bodies were shifted to MMC&RI mortuary after the post-mortem was conducted.
Yelwal Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
