Mysuru: Sri Nanneshwaraswamy Kalyani Deepotsava, organised as part of last Monday of Karthika Masa celebrations, was held at Hinkal yesterday.
Hinkal Village Development Committee had organised the annual festival of lights in which thousands of devotees, including women, children and youths joined together in lighting the oil lamps arranged on the steps of Kalyani. A large number of devotees had arrived from Hinkal, Vijayanagar, Hootagalli, Nanneshwara Layout, Basavanahalli, Manchegowdanakoppal, Hebbal, Tonachikoppal and surrounding areas for Deepotsava.
Later, the ‘Utsava Murti’ of Sri Nanneshwaraswamy was taken in a procession in the Temple premises.
Cultural programme
Noted folk artiste Dr. Mysore Gururaj and team enthralled the devotees by singing a number of devotional songs including Male Mahadeshwara and Manteswamy Katha Prasangas.
Temple authorities had arranged ‘Annasantarpana’ for devotees who had gathered at the temple premises to witness the Deepotsava.
Leaders of Hinkal village including Javaregowda, Nalini Vijayachandra Urs, Lohit V. Urs, Gram Panchayat President Hemavati and Members Yashoda and Neha, Hinkal Village Development Committee President H.C. Raju, Vice-President Hinkal Prakash, Venkatesh, Eshwarappa, Swamy, Ganesh and other Committee Members were present.
