Infosys Foundation Chairperson gifts Chadar made by Devadasis to Big B during shoot

Mumbai: The last episode of popular reality TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati – KBC Season 11 hosted by Amitabh Bachchan will be telecast on Nov.29.

The last episode will be dedicated to women and will feature Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty. She was the first female engineer at TATA Engineering and Locomotive Company and is also the wife of Infosys Founder N.R. Narayan Murthy.

The show was first telecast in July 2000 and became an instant hit across India. Participants are selected to sit on a hot seat and are required to answer a series of multiple-choice questions. The current season has a maximum prize of Rs.7 crore up for win and so far four contestants have won Rs.1 crore each.

Sudha shot for KBC 11 at Karamveer Special on Nov.11. “I am movie buff so I am really happy that I got to meet a great actor like Amitabh Bachchan. Winning or not winning is not a big deal but our main motive is to reach out people about the work we do,” said Sudha Murty.

Amitabh Bachchan, who was not well for the past few days, resumed his shoot on Nov.11 and shot for three episodes continuously. He took to his blog and shared his experience of meeting Sudha Murty. He wrote, “Had the honour and privilege of being in the company of Sudha Murty, the wife of Infosys Narayana Murthy and to hear and learn about her Foundation and the immense amount of work that she has done and is doing for the poor and underprivileged, in particular the succour and a fresh life she is giving to the ancient tradition of the Devadasis, and giving them a new beginning. What an amazing experience. What a lady and what an immense learning for me and all that come under her care and influence.”

Sudha Murty gifted a Chadar made by the Devadasis to Big B. “A Chadar stitched by Devadasis whom Sudha ji has given a new life to, away from the old tradition where they were relegated to discrimination and a gift for me to ever remember and be in awe of her tremendous work,” wrote Bachchan.
