August 19, 2026

Mysuru: Tibetan community representatives from the Gurupura settlement in Hunsur taluk met Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar at his office yesterday and urged him to raise the Tibetan issue in Parliament.

The delegation, which sought international attention to preserve Tibet’s identity, culture and rights, also submitted a memorandum to the MP.

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress-Hunsur President Tsering Youdon and Regional Tibetan Women’s Association President Sonam Dolkar urged Yaduveer to raise issues concerning the erosion of Tibetan culture, language and traditions during the Parliament session.

They also requested him to urge the Central Government to raise the issue at international forums, including the United Nations.

They further urged India to encourage democratic nations across the world to take a united stand on the Tibetan issue and support international efforts to uphold the rights and aspirations of Tibetans.

The delegation also highlighted the self-immolation of Lobga Rangzen, a Tibetan activist, in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York on July 2 in protest against alleged Chinese atrocities.

They appealed to Yaduveer to highlight the incident in Parliament and facilitate Parliamentary and Governmental engagement with Tibetan representatives and civil society.
