‘Democracy is redefined if specially-abled people get their needs’

Mysuru: Marking International Day of Persons with Disabilities and second anniversary of JSS Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre  (JSSPMRC), JSS College of Physiotherapy and JSSPMRC had organised a programme at Rajendra Bhavan in JSS Hospital premises here on Friday.

Inaugurating the programme along with a few physically challenged children, District Welfare Officer for Disabled D.J. Mamatha opined that Democracy would be meaningful if the requirements of specially-abled persons were effectively met to restore smile on their faces. She said that the Government has implemented several schemes for physically challenged persons which should be effectively utilised.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath disclosed that JSSPMRC has been giving sufficient opportunities for physically challenged  people to live independently. He said that the Centre over the last two years has successfully treated over 270 such people who should get the moral support of the society.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha Medical Education Director R. Mahesh, College Principal Dr. Kavitha Raja and others were present.

Earlier to the stage programme, over 25 physically challenged people of JSSPMRC who have undergone or undergoing treatment took out a rally in wheelchairs from JSS Mahavidyapeetha to Rajendra Bhavan.
