Deploy new bus for Route No. 72

March 3, 2018

Sir,

I am a daily commuter from Metagalli to Kuvempunagar in City Bus Route No. 72. This bus bridges the South Western part of Mysuru with North Western part covering vast areas like Srirampura, Vivekanandanagar, Kuvempunagar, Ramakrishnanagar, Saraswathipuram, Gangothri Layout, T. K. Layout, Janathanagar, AIISH, Regional College, SJCE, Manasagangothri, Vijayashreepura, Jayalakshmipuram, V.V. Mohalla, Gokulam, Sanatorium, Brindavan Extension, B. M. Shri Nagar and Metagalli. Without this bus, commuters have only choice to go via city bus stand catching multiple buses. Especially for women and aged people it becomes a Herculean Task.

Route No. 72 is a gift for working class, students and hospital- goers covering major offices, schools, colleges and hospitals en-route. Added to it, this is the only direct bus which connects from Kuvempunagar and surrounding areas to important landmarks like Passport Office, Government Ayurveda, Nature Cure and Yoga Hospital, ESI Hospital and shortly opening Jayadeva Cardiology Hospital.

But this bus route is utterly neglected by the authorities as hardly 3 days in a week this bus runs properly. Added to it, Sunday is a weekly holiday for this bus. Almost everyday Vivekanandanagar Depot authorities deploy a different bus which is seriously in bad condition, mostly discarded from other routes. The reason being reported is no revenue generation in this route.

But the authorities should understand that only when they provide a good-conditioned bus running in time on all days in a week increases the dependability of the commuters and in turn generates good revenue.

The regular commuters of this bus are mainly pass holders. Apart from them other ticket buying commuters also travel in this bus. Considering the above facts, the authorities can analyse the revenue part. More than everything KSRTC should support and entertain public transport.

Regular commuters are repeatedly requesting for a new bus since more than 5 years, but no action has been taken so far. I hope the authorities concerned will introduce a brand new bus for this route.
