Depressed woman kills daughter, commits suicide

Mandya: A 29-year-old woman, said to be depressed in life, allegedly killed her 11-year-old daughter before committing suicide at 

The deceased are Shanthi and her daughter Kaushalya, residents of Ambedkar Layout in Melukote.

Shanthi’s husband passed away six years ago due to illness and she was eking out a living by working as a labourer but was depressed after she lost her husband. On Monday morning, Shanthi allegedly suffocated her daughter to death and later hanged herself in the house, it is learnt.

Pandavapura Circle Inspector Ravindra and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the bodies to a Government Hospital, where post-mortem was conducted and the bodies were handed over to the deceased’s relatives.

A case has been registered at Melukote Police Station.
