Sir,
The Nanjangud toll booth, where toll fees are collected, is a mere waste given the deplorable condition of the road. Nearly 80 percent of the stretch is riddled with patches and potholes, making travel a nightmare.
The road, laid with substandard quality, has deteriorated within a year of asphalting, with potholes reappearing rapidly.
On the Nanjangud Bridge Road towards Mysuru, debris at the bridge’s entrance has remained uncleared for the past five years. This obstruction at a critical overtaking spot, which narrows down to a single lane, poses a severe threat to motorists. Several accidents have occurred due to this negligence.
Why are the authorities turning a blind eye despite travelling on the same route for years? This is a blatant display of negligence, laziness and carelessness. What is the justification for collecting high toll fees when the roads remain in such a pathetic state?
I earnestly urge the authorities to take immediate action and prevent further loss of life.
Star of Mysore has been a strong voice for the people for many decades, shedding light on critical issues and driving positive change. I urge speedy action through this column.
