Devaraj Urs’ 109th birth anniversary

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. P. Shivaraju said that the District Administration will be celebrating the 109th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs on  Aug. 20 from 11.30 am at Kalamandira in city.

Holding a preliminary meeting to discuss about the celebration, he said that on that day, all pre-matric, post-matric hostels of Backward Classes, Ashram Schools including Government schools and colleges must compulsorily celebrate the 109th birth anniversary of Devaraj Urs in a meaningful manner.

To commemorate his birthday, hostel students, who have scored high marks in SSLC, PUC and Post-Graduate courses, will be felicitated. In addition, quiz competitions, essay contests, sporting and other activities must be organised and prizes should be given to the winners, the ADC told the officials at the meeting.

P. Raghavendra, District Officer, Department of Backward Classes, who spoke at the meeting, said that music programmes by different art troupes will be organised on the occasion.
