‘Digital Technology is new mantra for industrial revolution’

March 28, 2019

Mysuru:  “In a globally competitive world the use of Digital Technology becomes very essential to increase industrial production and to enhance skill development among students which in turn will lead to more job creation,” said University of Mysore Vice Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar.

He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day International Conference on ‘New Horizons of Industrial Revolution 4.0,’ organised by the Department of Studies in Business Administration at the Rani Bahadur auditorium here this morning and said that if the economy of a country has to develop and the lot of students has to improve then digital revolution must happen.

Tracing the path of  industrial revolution, he said that the first revolution involved water and fuel, the second one was the production of machines, the third involved generating electricity and the fourth is IT hardware and software.

It is only by using IT can one face challenges and competitions and once again the stress is on digital technology. Conferences like this will go a long way in meeting the challenges of such issues, said Prof. Hemantha Kumar.

IIM Kozikode Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee delivered the keynote address.

Kenji Kawamoto, Managing Director, Mitsubishi Heavy Industry, VST Diesel Engines, Mysuru, Dean of Faculty of Commerce Prof. D. Anand, Chairman and Conference Convenor Prof. R. Mahesh, Conference Secretaries Prof. S.J. Manjunath and Dr. M. Amulya and others were  present.
