Sir,
Goblimara bus shelter in J.P. Nagar, Mysuru, is an important bus stop used by a large number of school and college students and the general public.
However, the shelter is now in a dilapidated condition due to poor maintenance. The lights inside are not working, forcing passengers, including women, to wait for buses in the dark, often with a sense of insecurity.
The shelter is covered with advertisements and pamphlets, while garbage continues to accumulate inside and around it. Political parties and others have also put up large flex boards on the front and right side of the shelter, obstructing passengers’ view of approaching buses.
The authorities should take immediate steps to repair the lights, ensure regular cleaning of the shelter and its surroundings and remove the unauthorised flex boards.
Action should also be initiated against those responsible for putting up the boards under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981, in the interest of public safety and convenience.
