Direct recruitment of doctors soon: Minister Sudhakar

Bengaluru: The State Government will fill up the vacant 1,246 physician and 824 specialist posts in Primary Health Centres through direct recruitment within a month, said Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar.

Replying to Narendra during the Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday, the Minister said that 9,850 Junior Health Assistant posts have been sanctioned for Health and Family Welfare Department of which 224 vacant posts had been filled up through special recruitment drive in 2018. Of the total 9,850 posts, 7,123 were filled and the rest 2,727 posts would be filled up soon. 

He said a decision had been taken to provide 12 facilities in ambulance service for which tenders would be floated in the next two to three months. The ambulance service in the last 10 years has taught a lesson to the Government. As per the current norm, there should be one ambulance per lakh population, but the incumbent Government had decided to provide one ambulance for 30,000 to 35,000 population. Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has permitted to build a 30-bed hospital atop M.M. Hills and it would start functioning within one year. Pending salary of NGOs working in Primary Health Centres under ‘Arogya Bandhu’ scheme will be given soon, he said.
